Two-phase orthodontic treatment is a proactive approach to ensuring your child's unique dental and skeletal needs are met. Many children benefit greatly with interventions that expand the upper jaw, extinguish tongue thrust and thumb habits, and maintain or increase space for permanent teeth. Some of these procedures are time-sensitive and should be completed before the child hits certain growth benchmarks. By addressing issues early and strategically, there’s a higher likelihood you can avoid more extensive and invasive treatment later. There’s also psychological benefits in helping children feel more confident about their smile during critical developmental years.

Scheduling regular appointments is the most efficient way to progress through modern orthodontic treatment. Our team will let you know how frequently to schedule visits, but typically we will see you every 4-12 weeks. If you’re in our observation program, we may see you every 3-12 months depending on what we’re monitoring. Regular check ups allow for strong communication, adjustments in treatment as necessary, and an opportunity for you to ask questions so we can address any concerns.

It is reasonable to expect some discomfort and sensitivity after an adjustment or tray change. Luckily, this usually subsides in 1-2 days.
